The Green Bed

1.      Sopho* joined the iThemba House family when he was only 8 days old. At first Sopho* suffered from a nasty eye infection and constant vomiting, but has now developed into the most beautiful, healthy baby boy. He will be sleeping and dreaming in our green bed until he can either be reunited with his biological parents, or a suitable adoptive family is found. Welcome, Sopho*, we look forward to many cuddles with you!

2.     Mezo* came to iThemba House when he was only 15 days old, a tiny, beautiful new born infant. He seems to be very hungry and is feeding every hour during the night keeping our house mother and the volunteers very busy! Mezo* will be staying at iThemba House and cuddling warm under the covers of our Green Rainbow Bed until a suitable adoptive family is found for him.

3.     Sihle*, a very handsome and clever 5 year old boy, filled our Green Bed with boundless energy and excitement. Sihle* had been living on the streets for many years, and came to iThemba House in need of love, warmth and nutrition. Very soon, after just a few sessions of counselling and cuddling, this amazing boy was running around our house, climbing on trees and playing on our jungle gym. There was never a dull moment with Sihle* around, who loved to laugh, play games and tickle everyone who came to visit. Our Play and Occupational therapy, as well as good nutrition and vitamins, soon helped Sihle* to develop and grow healthy. Fortunately, with the help of Child Welfare, a new and supportive foster home has been found for him.

4.     Elam*, a timid 2 year old boy, came to us from a horribly abusive environment. His body had been beaten and unloved for far too long. After visits to the clinic, Elam's* physical wounds began to heal, and he has learnt to trust the people around him and develop emotionally. He has been receiving nutritional boosters, and a very good diet, and is steadily gaining weight. In fact, he has grown an amazing 6 cm in the three months that he has been with us!

Due to terrible physical neglect, Elam* suffers from severe ear infections and respiratory tract problems, but our Doctor is helping him overcome his physical weaknesses, and slowly but surely this gentle boy is becoming stronger and happier. Elam* will be staying at iThemba House until a suitable foster home is found for him.
